Yes! This short stretch feels like the first ‘real’ cycling kilometres in Myanmar, although the cycling in Yangon was serious. But we are actually travelling now! Road conditions are good, it is not too busy and within one hour we reach Golden Sunrise Resort, a few kilometres before Kinpun. Kinpun is the village well known for the Golden Rock. Yes, a golden rock on top of a  mountain.

At night we explore the village of Kinpun but it fails to enchant us. We undertake an aloof attempt to cycle towards the Golden Rock, but we are discouraged easily: a few times we’re overtaken by crowded, fast-running open buses and the perspective climbing Mount Kyaiktho just doesn’t appeal to us.

We’re heading back to our comfortable resort for dinner and go to bed early. Tomorrow we’re heading for Thaton!
